The Riverside Kennels Stake, generously sponsored by the Holland family, saw the hosts shine as Yorkie Ollie and Tempestade clinched victories in their respective heats, showcasing exceptional skill and determination.
Yorkie Ollie’s Gritty Comeback
First to deliver was the highly-regarded Yorkie Ollie, who displayed versatility with a remarkable off-the-pace win. Sent off as the 4/5 favourite, the tracker, co-owned by Michael Hennessy and Adrian Sheils, broke well but found himself boxed in at the first bend as Ballybough Nutz capitalised on his inside position to grab the early lead.
Undeterred, Yorkie Ollie recovered, surging into second down the back straight. Approaching the final bends, he drew level with the leader and shifted gears impressively on the climb to the finish. The son of Magical Bale and Outdoor Roller crossed the line two and a half lengths ahead of Ballybough Nutz, stopping the clock at an impressive 28.78 seconds.
Tempestade Extends Unbeaten Streak at Clonmel
The second win of the evening came courtesy of Tempestade, who reaffirmed his dominance at Clonmel with a flawless performance. Larry Dunne’s talented runner, unbeaten at the Suirside venue, returned in style after a challenging spell.
Starting from trap four, Tempestade briefly ceded the lead to Springwood Fred but quickly surged ahead, establishing a commanding advantage down the back straight. Setting a blistering pace, the son of Droopys Sydney and Rural Aloha was untouchable as he cruised to a four-length victory. Vivaro Ceyian ran valiantly to secure second, but Tempestade’s time of 28.86 underlined his class.
With standout performances from both runners, the Holland family’s presence in the competition continues to make waves, promising more thrilling action ahead.
