Felix Triumphs To Secure Litter 1-2-3 For Ferguson In British Breeders Stakes

KEVIN FERGUSON celebrated his greatest triumph as a trainer when Acomb Felix led a littermate 1-2-3 victory for the Yorkshire-based handler in Monday’s BGBF British Breeders Stakes Final at Nottingham.

In a remarkable sweep for Ferguson’s home-bred March 2021 Hiya Butt-Acomb Ruby litter, Acomb Felix seized the lead down the far side while the favourite Coppice Gracie encountered a muscle issue, ultimately securing the Category One prize for British-breds over 500m.

Crossing the finish line one and a half lengths ahead of the competition, Acomb Felix was followed closely by litter sister Acomb Irene and litter brother Acomb Johnny, allowing owner, trainer, and breeder Ferguson, who also had fifth-placed Acomb Alfie, to dominate the top positions in the £12,500-to-the-winner final.

Acomb Felix follows in the footsteps of last year’s champion Romeo Command and joins esteemed winners such as Phantom Flash, Staplers Jo, Westmead Hawk, Eden The Kid, and Adageo Bob in the event's illustrious history.

In the accompanying BGBF British Bred Midlands Sprint Trophy, Phil Milner’s Keefill George delivered an impressive performance, leading at the first bend and triumphing by over four lengths from William Russell’s Coppice Ebby in a time of 18.25 seconds.
