In a contest marked by unexpected withdrawals, Faypoint Harvey emerged victorious as a rare Irish-trained winner of the Juvenile Championship at Towcester on Sunday. Despite the reduced field size caused by the absence of Newinn Syd and King Memphis, the race showcased a thrilling competition. Under the guidance of trainer Graham Holland, Faypoint Harvey, the Munster Juvenile Cup winner from Clonmel, showcased impressive speed and determination. Leading from the start, he clocked a swift 29.21 seconds for the 480m trip, securing a notable victory.
Faypoint Harvey crossed the finish line ahead of Clona Curly, the Arc Northern Puppy Derby champion, trained by Diane Henry. Romeo Crusade, the Coral Romford Puppy Cup champion, claimed third place, followed by Slick Sabo, also known as Glenvale Bill, the previous year's Puppy Classic winner under Patrick Janssens' training.
This prestigious event, sponsored by Time Greyhound Nutrition, brings together the standout performers from the previous year's puppy competitions. Despite initial concerns due to the closure of Greyhound TV, Time Greyhound Nutrition stepped in to support the championship with a generous prize fund.
Reflecting on the race, Willie Rigney of Time Greyhound Nutrition expressed disappointment over the withdrawals of Newinn Syd and King Memphis. He emphasized the need for improved communication to avoid such situations in the future. Rigney commended Faypoint Harvey's victory, highlighting the significance of the win for both the greyhound and the Hollands, who have a strong track record of success at Towcester.
With Faypoint Harvey's triumph, Graham Holland's kennel continues its impressive performance, setting high expectations for future races, including the upcoming English Derby. Rigney praised Holland's dedication and support, underscoring their shared commitment to excellence in greyhound racing.
