Droopys Clue Dominates Again in PGR St Leger Semis

The defending champion, Droopys Clue, continues to shine as he heads into the Premier Greyhound Racing St Leger final. Despite a tougher battle than expected, Droopys Clue still emerged victorious, holding off Trickycinderella to post the fastest semi-final time of 42.74 seconds. While his 1/4 odds suggested an easier race, he had to dig deep to secure the win. Last year, from trap two, he set a new track record of 42.33 in the final—a remarkable feat, considering the St Leger final has witnessed a new record twice in the past three years.

In the first semi-final, Hurry Up Jordan triumphed over Coonough Crow, securing a place in the final for John Lambe’s kennel. The presence of a Lambe-trained runner adds extra significance to the night, especially with the Birmingham Cup being sponsored in memory of Michael Lambe.

There was unfortunate news for Lively Lauren and her connections, as she sustained an injury after leading the race. Early indications suggest it might be a monkey muscle issue, and we wish her a speedy recovery.

In the final semi-final, Clona Curly managed to fend off Tuono Bella in an intense duel. Diane Henry’s runner showed significant improvement, breaking better than in previous races to secure his spot in the final with a time of 42.92, making him the youngest competitor among the finalists.

All eyes will now be on Droopys Clue as he aims to defend his title.
