Draper Dominates at Owlerton: A Sunday to Remember

On Sunday afternoon at Sheffield's Owlerton Stadium, the Barrie Draper team showcased their prowess by claiming victory in four out of the eight open races.

The highlight of the event was the Owlerton Stadium Puppy Final, where Headford Tadgh, despite being the underdog, surged past his favoured kennelmate near the finish line to clinch the win. Draper's other champions of the day included Pear Drops, Rocking Taylor, and Distant Prince, each adding to the kennel's impressive tally.

Meanwhile, Tom Heilbron had a remarkable day as well, securing two wins to bring his total for the year to 99 open race victories. Both wins defied market expectations. Ivy Hill Sancho took control down the backstretch, winning in 29.01 seconds at odds of 22/1. Fearsome Quest led from start to finish in a 480m race, clocking in at 27.98 seconds with 10/1 odds.

Acomb Felix delivered the standout performance of the afternoon, recording a time of 28.66 seconds. This stellar run, which earned him the Sheffield Performance of the Week, marked his fifth victory in his last six starts for trainer Kevin Ferguson. Acomb Felix, the BGBF British Breeders Stakes champion, continues to solidify his reputation as a formidable competitor.
