Next Thursday's evening card at Newcastle features the start of the ARC Angel Of the North and Time Greyhound Nutrition Northern Flat, with trial stakes dominating its ten Open race events.
Swindon also contributes with three more Opens, where DASHING DUDE (6) is expected to be a favourite in the Blunsdon Sprint (2102) and can form the basis of multiple wagers.
Frank Bryce’s charge, DASHING DUDE, is a course specialist with an impressive record of 15 wins out of 19 starts over the 262m trip. There is little reason to believe this sequence won't continue here.
However, the market should also consider the merits of Laughil Gordon (4). Although Georgina Brain’s charge hasn’t competed since April, he posted a useful sprint time effort earlier that month.
MARSTON JESS (1) has failed to land short-odds twice at Hove in A2 company but could make it third time lucky in the opener (1808). Last week, Seamus Cahill’s railer was caught off-guard by a wide-running rival. While Avarua Zlatan (2) is a similar speed-favouring type, Richard Rees’ youngster is expected to take a lane 2/3 passage.
MARSTON JESS, who began at Oxford, has won two of his six starts at Hove and may find kennelmate Noirs News (4) a bigger threat, especially if the race sets up for a closer finish.
MOUSTOWS MUTTLEY (6) has returned to something like his best form recently, notably with an impressive Open race win last time out. He is expected to win the D1 race later on the same card (1859). Derek Knight’s charge again faced Forever Billy (5), who was perhaps a bit unlucky last time, but still finished behind MOUSTOWS MUTTLEY in their last two meetings.
Two ex-Irish newcomers add intrigue to the contest, with Ballymac Kinga (4) being the most interesting based on her Tralee form.
