Barnfield Chief Set for Sunderland Run

BARNFIELD CHIEF (Trap 6) races in an A2 event tonight at Sunderland at 17.43, having received a penalty for her nearly two-length victory last time out. Known for her swift starts, she clocked one of her fastest opening splits (4.92s) in her last race, suggesting she will be well-positioned at the first corner.

Being the only wide seed in the race, The Chief should find a clear path. With just 20 races in her career, she has secured four victories, including a win in this grade in May. She's a promising contender, expected to deliver another strong performance.

The primary threat comes from Murphys Coco (Trap 3), who won comfortably in a lower grade last time by leading for most of the race. If she replicates her fastest recent time, she could challenge The Chief, despite having some time to make up on a few competitors. While Murphys Coco shows early speed, her adjacent rivals might pose a challenge, allowing The Chief to maintain her lead on the outside.

Lens and Pens Returns to Six Bends

LENS AND PENS (Trap 5) moves back to a six-bend race at Romford tonight at 20.36 after a series of disappointing performances over four bends. She has a strong track record over longer distances, often keeping pace well. Her best time over the 575m (35.69s) would secure a win here if she can match it.

Out of her seven wins at the track, six have come over six bends, and she showed great progress through the grades earlier this year. Recently, she has struggled over shorter distances, but a return to form is anticipated for the David Mullins-trained runner tonight.

Puttfor Charlie (Trap 3) is another to watch, likely to set the early pace. He won comfortably in an S3 race for Paul Young last time, earning a penalty. Despite this, his time was impressive, and he is expected to perform well again.

Gurtnacrehy Exit's Perry Barr Debut

GURTNACREHY EXIT (Trap 5) aims for a sprint victory in his Perry Barr debut tonight at 20.07. Starting in D3, he has shown potential in trials, with his fastest time (16.59s) needing only slight improvement to compete with the best in the field.

Having previously raced at Oxford, winning over both two and four bends, he is quick out of the boxes. Provided he adapts well to the new track, he should make a strong impression.

His main competition is Shrewd News (Trap 4), who won convincingly in this grade last time by nearly three lengths when leading early. If Shrewd News performs similarly tonight, he could challenge Gurtnacrehy Exit at the first bend.

Best Bets

  • 17:43 SUNDERLAND: BARNFIELD CHIEF (Trap 6)
  • 20:07 PERRY BAR: GURTNACREHY EXIT (Trap 5)
  • 20:36 ROMFORD: LENS AND PENS (Trap 5)

Have fun and good luck!
