Daily Greyhound Tips - Friday 01 March 2024

Anthony Ennis predicted the victory of Ballymac Andre (evens) on Tuesday and now offers three selections, along with an ante-post play, for Friday's events at Hove, Crayford, and Romford.

Another eventful Friday is underway in the realm of Premier Greyhound Racing, featuring 11 hours of action starting with a morning card at Hove, with the events at the south coast venue broadcasted live on Sky Sports Racing. Romford also hosts an excellent open-race card, including six heats of the Coral Golden Sprint, along with afternoon racing at Crayford.

I'm putting forward a selection in the Golden Sprint outright market, as most firms have priced up the 400m competition, with the final scheduled for Friday, 15th March - Cheltenham Gold Cup Day. Cooliogold, trained by Maxine Locke, is my pick, expected to make a significant impact in the competition. With a favourable draw in trap 3 for the first-round heat and the capability to start very quickly, he is well-suited for the event. Demonstrating an impeccable display in the trial stakes last Friday, he navigates the bends adeptly.

The Hove card presents a challenging outlook, and the impact of recent heavy rain on the running surface remains uncertain. If the wider paths are favoured, this would boost the prospects of Golden Wings (6) in the A2 event (12.17). Jamie Kingsley's improving bitch showcased her potential with a swift 29.86s in a lower-grade contest last weekend, benefiting from a well-timed break. With a moderate starter on her inner, she may find assistance and has a history of performing well at this level. A repetition of last week's outstanding performance would be more than sufficient for victory.

Once again, if there is further rain at Crayford favouring the outside, I fancy the chances of recent winner Swift Alien (5) in the S1 race (13.51). The only wide seed in the race, she faced no difficulty beating Romeo On Tilt (4) on Sunday, clocking a smooth 34.19s. With an ideal draw and the likelihood of crowding among the inside trio, Swift Alien is poised to lead off the second turn and stay ahead.

While not my typical Romford preference due to the sharp 400m, Droopys Eddie (6) possesses class and could go far in the Golden Sprint competition. From an advantageous draw in heat 4 (20.09), he may not exhibit early pace but is expected to overcome the competition with his remarkable pace in the latter part of the race. Confirming the form with Aero Convey (4) from the previous week, Droopys Eddie can secure victory with a clear path.

Best Bets

12.17 Hove - Golden Wings (Trap 6)

13.51 Crayford - Swift Alien (Trap 5)

20.09 Romford -Droopys Eddie (Trap 6)

Golden Sprint, Romford, Friday 15 March

1pt win Cooliogold (8-1 & 7-1 General)
