As we turn our attention to Hove, BLUEJIG BARON (4) emerges as a strong contender in the Standard Trophy (19:16). Dave Lee's charge from Crayford has shown impressive form, particularly after a commanding front-running performance over the same 500m distance last month. Despite a narrow defeat at Swindon last week, the dog remains in excellent condition.
However, the race won't be easy, as BLUEJIG BARON will start from an outside draw, giving an advantage to the locally favoured Clairekeith Jude (3). Additionally, Chelms Vickie (5) could present a challenge, as she will also be vying for an inside position, making it a highly competitive heat.
19:33 HOVE: WONDERFUL ABI (Trap 1)
In the second heat (19:33), WONDERFUL ABI (1) is one to watch. Rapidly rising through the graded ranks at Central Park, she has a real shot at making her debut in an Open race a successful one. Although she hasn't yet raced on the Sussex track, her recent improvement in split times at her home track under Paul Donovan's guidance suggests she could hold off her rivals if she breaks well.
Noirs News (6), who reached the Summer Stayers semi-finals, will find this competition more suitable and may pose the greatest threat in the latter stages of the race.

Meanwhile, AERO BECKS (1) is making waves at Monmore, confidently moving through the grades. After a dominant A2 victory, she now steps up in what is essentially an A1 race in disguise (18:31). Richie Taberner’s skilled runner has impressed with her tight railing and early speed, and despite facing more challenging opponents, she could prove difficult to beat if she secures an early lead. With five wins already under her belt from ten starts, she’s poised to add another victory to her record.
