Clonbrien Treaty Claims Consecutive Victory

Graham Holland's Clonbrien Treaty, sired by Pestana, has secured his second Willwego.com Irish St Leger title.

Although Clonbrien Treaty faced defeat in the first three rounds, he showed clear signs of hitting top form in last week's semi-final. He left no doubt this time, delivering his fastest-ever performance over Limerick’s 550-yard distance, clocking in at 29.28 seconds.

Clonbrien Treaty’s dam, Clonbrien Millie, is a descendant of Trout Or Salmon, who was also the dam of Holland’s previous Irish St Leger champion, Clonbrien Hero. Remarkably, Clonbrien Treaty is the first greyhound to win this prestigious race back-to-back since Time Up Please achieved the feat in 1971 and 1972.

Miami King chose the perfect moment to deliver his best sectional of the competition, leading the pack early with a 2.81 split. Though unable to maintain his lead over the eventual winner, he fought hard to secure second place, finishing just a length and a half behind. Barefoot On Fire claimed third place.

In a bid to upstage Clonbrien Treaty, Ower Cracker set a new 600-yard track record in the subsequent race, clocking 32.04. After being knocked out in the first round of the St Leger, Ower Cracker has since won all four of his races.
