Bockos Thunder Sets the Pace in Birmingham

John Lambe, the trainer of Hurry Up Jordan, has a personal connection to the Birmingham Cup, which is held in honour of his late father, Michael. In the first heat, however, it was Bockos Thunder who stole the show. Trained by Kevin Boon, Bockos Thunder delivered the fastest performance of the night with a time of 28.14 seconds. It could be argued that he benefited from better track conditions before the rain set in.

Local favourite Darley Diglake showcased his familiarity with the course, clocking 29.40 seconds for Robert Hall. Meanwhile, Aayamza Sydney, who hadn't raced since the Derby, returned in fine form, claiming victory in heat five with a time of 28.44 seconds for John Mullins.

Nathan Hunt also made his mark, securing a win with Untold Paanga in 28.40 seconds after a dramatic heat that shifted in the closing stages. Additional heat winners included Aghaburren Beau, who ran 28.66 seconds for Brian Thompson, and Long Fellow, who crossed the line in 28.77 seconds under the guidance of Matt Dartnall.

Despite the weather delays, the semi-final draw for both competitions is set to take place on Monday, organised by the GBGB.
