Birmingham Cup Secures Sponsorship Deal

Martin Seal, the racing manager at Perry Barr, expressed his excitement over securing sponsorship for this year's Birmingham Cup. The family of trainer John Lambe will sponsor the 480m annual event for the fifth consecutive year in September. This year's event, titled "The M Lambe Construction Birmingham Cup In Memory of Michael Lambe Senior," will coincide with the Premier Greyhound Racing St Leger. The competition kicks off with heats on Saturday, September 7, followed by semi-finals on September 14, and culminates in a £12,500 final on September 21.

The Lambe family began their support for the Birmingham Cup in 2020, with Angela Harrison's Droopys Carat taking the victory. Subsequent winners have included Candy Man (2021, Carol Weatherall), Ivanexile (2022, Matt Dartnall), and Brookside Richie (2023, Jimmy Fenwick), all contributing to the prestigious history of the event.

Seal highlighted the rich history of the Birmingham Cup, which dates back to 1939, noting that the competition consistently features top-class winners. He expressed his gratitude for the continued support from John Lambe and his family, anticipating another strong turnout and thrilling Saturdays in September, as the St Leger will also be held on the same nights.
